Flexible Schedule Overview:
Bishop Drug Screen is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations for commercial drivers on an as-needed basis. This is a flexible 1099 independent contractor opportunity ideal for a provider looking for supplemental income with minimal administrative responsibilities. The provider will conduct DOT physicals in accordance with the standards established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and must be listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners . Appointments will be scheduled as demand arises, with the potential for growth as employer partnerships expand across the Eastern Sierra region.
Responsibilities:
Perform DOT physical examinations for commercial motor vehicle drivers. Review driver medical histories and evaluate fitness for duty according to FMCSA guidelines. Conduct required elements of the exam including vision screening, hearing screening, vital signs, and urinalysis review. Accurately complete and submit required DOT documentation and medical examiner certificates. Maintain compliance with federal and state DOT regulations. Provide clear communication to drivers regarding certification status and follow-up requirements.
Qualifications:
Current California license as a Nurse Practitioner in good standing. Active listing on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (required). Experience in occupational medicine or DOT physical examinations preferred. Strong documentation and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Insurance Requirements:
As this is a 1099 independent contractor position , the provider must maintain their own professional liability insurance with minimum coverage of: $1,000,000 per claim / $3,000,000 aggregate Proof of coverage must be provided prior to performing examinations.
Compensation:
Competitive per-exam rate (negotiable based on experience and volume). Flexible scheduling based on demand. Opportunity for additional occupational health services as the practice expands.
Schedule:
Part-time / as-needed Flexible hours Potential to grow into a regular weekly schedule as demand increases
