Investigative Assistant I/II City of Cypress, CA - 3.5 Cypress, CA Job Details $21.90 - $27.90 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Company vehicle operation Driver's License Full Job Description Description We have an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and resourceful individual to support the Police Department! Under the general direction of a Detective or Investigations Supervisor, the Investigative Assistant provides assistance and support in the technical and investigative work associated with civil and criminal cases. Example of Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Track and review planning permits which include, but is not limited to: Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), Conditional Use Permit (CUP), and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Coordinate surveillance with investigators as it related to permits. Assist detectives with administrative aspects of surveillance such as scribing and running queries. Enter, maintain, retrieve and compile information using the computerized Records Management System and other local, state and federal databases. Assist with downloading photographic evidence onto the department's Digital Imaging Management System (DIMS). Assist with maintaining records on case assignments and disposition. Update case status requests from the Detectives and/or the Investigative Supervisor. Transport evidence to and from the County Crime Lab and inventory evidence used in investigative cases. Assist with processing DNA samples. Prepare reports and maintain a variety of records, logs and files. Assist with court liaison duties. Typical Qualifications Experience and Education A high school diploma or G.E.D.
Investigative Assistant I:
Two years of experience involving extensive public contact, preferably in a police department or similar agency.
Investigative Assistant II:
Two years of experience working in a police department responsible for permitting, plan reviews, records management or other related functions. An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a related field is highly desirable.
Additional Requirements :
Must possess a valid California driver license along with proof and maintenance of an acceptable driving record. Supplemental Information All completed applications received will be reviewed and the most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the selection process which may consist of, but may not be limited to: Oral Interview (100%) . Special accommodation for legal disability if a written request accompanied by proper documentation is submitted to the Human Resources Office five days prior to testing.

pattern, history, or irresponsibility as evidenced by debt collections, civil judgments, or failure to pay, etc. Exigent circumstances may be evaluated on an individual basis.
MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATIONS
Any conviction of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs within the past seven years of the date of application or more than one conviction of driving under the influence at any time.
