Contract Public Defender SALARY:
$50,400 for 120 case credits Signing bonus of $2,500 Increased case credits may be available for this position upon request. Please specify credits requested.

DESCRIPTION
The City of Olympia is accepting applications for three contract public defenders to represent indigent defendants in the Thurston County District Court representing defendants charged by the City of Olympia. Each position is a 120 case credit max position with an opportunity to carry a misdemeanor/gross misdemeanor caseload. An increased caseload will be considered upon request, depending on the number of positions filled. Applicants must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association with a minimum of one year of criminal defense experience. Experience handling public defense cases is preferred. Contract period for this position is from a date mutually agreed upon through December 31 st , 2026, with an intention to renew for the year 2027. Public defender must be able to meet caseload standards and quarterly certification. Public defenders work closely with the Public Defense Coordinator.
