Job Description

All successful candidates will receive training in all work activities performed by Correctional Officers. Correctional Officer Trainees are hired on a provisional basis and are required to meet the minimum qualifications of Correctional Officer I within one year from date of hire. Additionally, trainees must possess the ability to establish a positive rapport with individuals from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds; good oral and written communication skills; maturity, emotional stability, and good judgment; and the ability to work in a frequently unpredictable environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
One (1) year of full-time work experience.
Education:
A high school graduate or General Education Development (GED). Test indicating high school graduation level. (MUST

Age:
At least 18 years of age.
License:
Possession of a valid class "C" California Driver's License. A valid Class "B" California Driver's License may be required.
SPECIAL NOTE
As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a thorough and detailed personal background investigation and polygraph examination. These investigations include employment / credit histories, arrest / criminal records, drug / alcohol use, and personal conduct. Background materials for failed candidates are retained for one year. Medical and psychological examinations are also included in our hiring process. A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
