Job Description
This position is responsible for supervising inmates in the maintenance of city parking structures , METRA Facility, and all bus routes. Supervises and maintains the safety of inmates and the public. Schedules the cleaning of city public parking garages and city parking lot. Maintains all METRA lawn tools; equipment; and inventories equipment. Paints poles, gates, and walls; cleans spiders webs from walls and ceilings; washes floors. Collects trash daily from public parking garages and lot. Cuts lawns and maintains the appearance of parking grounds. Maintains trash pickup and weed cutting along t en bus routes. Performs other related job duties as assigned. Knowledge of correctional techniques. Knowledge of management and supervisory techniques. Knowledge of cleaning techniques. Knowledge of gardening and lawn maintenance practices. Skill in the operation of pressure washers, lawn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sidewalk edger's, and sprinkler systems. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations. Ability to operate a motor vehcile. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification by the Georgia Department of Corrections. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must pass P.O.S.T. certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months but may be altered. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects and climbs ladders. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Balancing
