Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a vigilant and adaptable On Call Detention Officer to ensure the safety, security, and orderly operation of detention facilities during assigned shifts. This role involves monitoring detainees, maintaining facility security protocols, and responding swiftly to emergencies or incidents. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing challenging situations with professionalism and composure. This position offers the opportunity to serve a vital role in the justice and correctional system, providing support whenever the facility requires immediate oversight or assistance. Responsibilities Conduct regular surveillance using CCTV systems to monitor detainee activity and ensure security protocols are upheld. Respond promptly to emergency situations, including medical incidents or security breaches, utilizing first aid and CPR skills as needed. Maintain accurate and detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any irregularities observed during shifts. Enforce rules and regulations within the detention facility through conflict management and effective communication. Assist law enforcement personnel with security procedures, evidence handling, or other operational tasks as directed. Perform routine security checks of the facility premises, including perimeter patrols and inspection of detention areas. Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe environment for staff, detainees, and visitors at all times. Skills Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations calmly. Report writing abilities for documenting incidents accurately and thoroughly. Ability to remain alert during long shifts while maintaining high levels of attention to detail.
