at Department of Corrections in Galesburg, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking to fill a Grievance Officer. This position will be responsible for administering the grievance program for individuals in custody, reviewing and researching report findings, and preparing, compiling and transcribing completed grievance resolutions. In addition, they will manage daily record keeping, serve as a liaison for the correctional facility as it relates to grievances, and participate in a variety of grievance processes and procedures. Essential Functions Under general direction and guidance of the Assistant Warden of Programs and the Chief Inspector’s District Oversight Manager, serves as a grievance officer, administering the grievance program for individuals in custody. Reviews and researches report findings to provide appropriate responses, resolve complaints and/or recommend course of action. Prepares, compiles and transcribes the completed grievance resolution of the findings and recommendations, supporting all policy, procedures, rules, regulations and/or relevant laws and submits to the Warden for review and approval. Manages daily record keeping operation of all grievances received and processed. Serves as a liaison for the correctional facility to internal and external entities as it relates to grievances. Directs, coordinates, attends and/or instructs in-service training/orientation on grievance processes and procedures for correctional facility staff and individuals in custody. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in behavioral or social sciences. Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience providing behavioral and/or social science functions within an adult correctional facility such as would be gained as a Correctional Counselor III .
