Job Description

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for those wishing to serve our community as a Correctional Officer. Minimum requirements include being a United States Citizen, 18 years of age, High School Graduate or Equivalency and no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude. The successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to a personal interview, applicants should anticipate a pre-employment physical and drug screening. Shift work should be expected and the successful applicant will have regular / daily contact with pre and post trial detainees.   • Ensure the security and safety of inmates and staff within the correctional facility.
  • Manage conflicts and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras to maintain a secure environment.
  • Provide first aid and CPR when necessary.
  • Enforce laws and regulations within the facility.
  • Write detailed reports on incidents and daily activities.
