Facility Location El Dorado Correctional Facility 1737 SE Highway 54, P.O. Box 311 El Dorado, KS 67042 Benefits Starting salary of $48,963.20 annually Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation, sick leave, and state holidays Paid parental, military, jury duty, and bereavement leave Kansas retirement and deferred compensation plans Paid training and ongoing professional development Career advancement opportunities within KDOC Stable state employment with excellent benefits What You'll Do As a Correctional Officer, you will help maintain the safety and security of the facility while supervising residents and supporting daily operations.
Responsibilities include:
Supervise residents in housing units, work assignments, dining areas, and recreation Maintain order and enforce facility rules and policies Conduct security checks, resident counts, pat-downs, and searches for contraband Escort residents safely throughout and outside the facility as required Monitor behavior and prepare reports on incidents and security concerns Respond to emergencies using approved safety procedures Operate radios, restraints, and other security equipment Provide first aid or CPR when necessary Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Successfully complete the written exam and physical fitness test Pass a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screening No felony convictions No DUI convictions within the past 24 months No drug use or possession convictions within the past 60 months Preferred Qualifications Correctional Officer Certification (earned through KDOC Basic Training) CPR/First Aid certification Military, law enforcement, corrections, or security experience Equal Employment Opportunity The State of Kansas is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building a diverse workforce.
