Corrections Officer - Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (JIAC) - Corrections

Performs routine work carrying out the intake and assessment procedures for clients brought to the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (JIAC) within the Department of Corrections (DOC) and monitors clients while in the facility. Intake & Assessment Interviews clients utilizing motivational interviewing skills. Completes intake portion of database when law enforcement presents clients for assessment; completes fingerprinting, mug shots, and as necessary, DNA. Enters accurate demographic information into the database. Creates and/or modifies records in database, demonstrates high quality writing and proofreading skills; ensures timely completion of records, and accurately files records. Case Management Provides short-term crisis counseling to families to ensure the safe release of clients. Conducts family conferences to affect a safe and positive release with referrals to address issues identified during the assessment interview. Provides inter-agency collaboration by sending required information to the District Attorney and social agencies; sets bonds and court dates, pulls ad hoc information requests for agencies, creates/distributes daily reports. Supervisor Extender Relieves the shift supervisor of routine tasks and reporting of shift activity, when needed. Assists in the training of team members and serves as a resource person for law enforcement to answer questions about JIAC processes. Applicants have rights under Federal Employment Laws.
