RAYMOND LABORDE CORRECTIONAL CENTER
Cottonport, LA At the Louisiana Department of Corrections, our mission is to promote public safety and strengthen communities through fair, professional, and responsive corrections services. This is a promotional opportunity for current LA Department of Corrections employees who have permanent status and are ready to advance in their career. The incumbent serves as the acting authority over institutional operations in the absence of the Corrections Warden 4. In addition, the incumbent assumes full responsibility for the duties of the Corrections Deputy Warden 4 for Operations whenever that official is unavailable. This position also oversees and actively participates in the institution's response to emergency situations, including but not limited to escapes, large-scale searches, offender work stoppages, hostage incidents, and other violent or nonviolent disturbances. The incumbent maintains continuous communication with RLCC and remains on call twenty-four (24) hours a day to address emergencies or unusual circumstances requiring administrative intervention. The Deputy Warden of Programming is responsible for coordinating and participating in efforts to restore normal operations following such events, ensuring that institutional safety, security, and order are reestablished promptly and effectively Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates: Five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following: 1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or 2. A bachelor's degree. OR A master's degree plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR A doctorate plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted. In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Job Duties:
Plans, directs, implements, and coordinates the activities of unit heads and staff to ensure effective delivery of institutional programs and services. Provides leadership and oversight for the overall programmatic operations of the facility, including direct supervision of two (2) Corrections Assistant Warden 3s. Areas of responsibility include Education and Vocational Programs, Business Office operations, Offender Welfare Fund, Offender Banking, Offender Canteens, Offender Organizations, Records Management, Warehouse operations, Food Service, Offender Records, Pre-Release and Re-Entry Programs, Religious Programs, Offender Legal Programs, Classification, Offender Library Services, and Property Control. Assists the Warden by conducting periodic inspections of the entire prison facility, including the physical compound and all external units and programs associated with RLCC, to ensure maximum productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance with departmental standards.
