Job Description

Overview The Nodaway County Sheriffs Office is currently accepting applications for Full and Part-time Jailers for all Shifts. Jailer primary duties include processing and booking inmates, releasing inmates and overseeing care and safety of inmates. Starting salary is $16.56 per hour. The Jailer is required to make inquiries, enter warrants, missing persons, stolen property and other computer entries. Training will be provided by the Nodaway County Sheriffs Office. Eligible candidates must be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays, possess a high school diploma or GED and have no criminal history. Duties Supervise and monitor inmate activities to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including monitoring systems to identify any potential security breaches. Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, utilizing CPR and first aid skills when necessary. Collaborate with law enforcement personnel during emergencies or investigations. Implement conflict management strategies to de-escalate tense situations among inmates. Maintain order within the facility by enforcing disciplinary measures as needed. Skills Strong understanding of law enforcement principles and practices. Certification in CPR and first aid is highly desirable. Ability to manage conflicts effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
