Job Description
Supervision of detainees and detainee activity in detention facilities. Provides care and correctional treatment of detainees. Manages detainee holding areas. Ensures that detainees remain in custody. Transports and escorts detainees within secured areas according to relevant laws, policies, and procedures. Contributes to the maintenance of institution security and safety standards. Performs searches on detainees and visitors for contraband items. Checks mail for contraband, such as weapons or drugs. Prepares incident reports and other documentation of conduct. Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, detainee conduct, detainee accountability, and keep order within the jail. Conducts accurate headcounts. Inventories detainees' personal property and issues receipts. Break up physical confrontations and protect detainees and fellow officers from harm. Provides emergency assistance as needed, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, escape of detainees, and evacuation procedures. Supervise activities of detainees.
