Job Description
The Alamance County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking applicants for the School Resource Officer position in the School Resources Division. A School Resource Officer acts as a liaison between school administrators, faculty, and students with social agencies and programs available within the community. An officer serving in the role of a SRO is expected to build and maintain relationships with students, school personnel, parents, co-workers and their immediate supervisors. In this role, a School Resource Officer must provide a high level of visibility and maintain a proactive approach to deterring criminal behavior on school property. This position also requires good judgement and excellent communication skills.
Work Schedule:
This is an FLSA non-exempt, position. Work is generally completed on a regularly scheduled basis; the normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:- Assembles required documents and information as needed for the School Resource Division.
- Obtains and maintains certifications applicable for the position.

- Carries out any or all other duties as directed by the Sheriff or his designee.
- Attends training that is relevant to the School Resource Officer position (local and out of state).
- Uses discretion effectively to determine a proper course of action consistent with the Alamance Burlington School System policies and the department's mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years' experience with duties closely related to the School Resource Officer position, already certified as a SRO or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Associates or Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field.Computer Skills:
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience)Special Criteria:
