Key Responsibilities:
Security and Supervision:
- Maintain security, order, and discipline among inmates. Conduct routine checks, patrols, and counts to ensure all inmates are present and accounted for. Monitor inmate behavior to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations.
Conflict Resolution:
- Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and conflicts using approved methods and techniques. Employ de-escalation tactics to resolve disputes and maintain a safe environment for both staff and inmates.
Communication:
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, supervisors, and inmates. Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, activities, and inmate behavior. Report any irregularities or violations to the appropriate personnel promptly.
Search and Inspection:
- Conduct thorough searches of inmates, their quarters, and facility grounds to prevent the introduction and possession of contraband. Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
Inmate Support and Rehabilitation:
- Participate in programs aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates. Encourage positive behavior and support inmates in their personal development and goal-setting efforts.
Training and Development:
- Attend and successfully complete all required training programs. Stay informed about current practices, policies, and developments in corrections to enhance job performance.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other correctional officers, staff, and external agencies to ensure effective facility operations. Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
