Provides direct supervision to clients at county jail. Maintains security, control, and guidance of detainees at facility, to prevent harm and provide for their safety during all daily activities. Implements corrective disciplinary strategies. Documents client behavior within the county jail system.Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct head counts to ensure that each prisoner is present. Inspect conditions of locks, window bars, grills, doors, and gates at jail facility to ensure security and help prevent escapes. Monitor conduct of prisoners in housing unit, or during work or recreational activities, according to established policies, regulations, and procedures, to prevent escape or violence. Guard facility entrances to screen visitors. Use weapons, handcuffs, and physical force to maintain discipline and order among prisoners. Take prisoners into custody and escort to locations within and outside of facility, such as visiting room, courtroom, or airport. Provide written and oral reports to supervisor of the quality and quantity of work performed by in-mates, in-mate disturbances and rule violations, and unusual occurrences. Participate in required job training's. Counsel in-mates and respond to legitimate questions, concerns, and requests.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. Must submit a copy of high school diploma or GED certificate upon job acceptance. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass background check and drug screen. Must have a valid Texas driver's license. Must be able to work any shift, weekends and holidays and have adequate transportation.
