Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Jail Officer serving in
  • Processes inmates into custody of the BRRJA, searches inmates, takes charge of personal property, provides clothing, bedding, eating utensils, and BRRJA rules and regulations.
  • Releases inmates after properly checking records and completing proper paperwork.
  • Supervises inmates during meals, exercise, work, recreation, and related activities for conformance to BRRJA rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic security checks of inmates in assigned area and on center grounds.
  • Conducts searches of inmates, BRRJA property, and visitors.
  • Maintains and updates center logs.
  • Attends to special needs of inmates.
  • Escorts and transports inmates as required.
  • Supervises inmate phone calls.
  • Distributes medication to inmates per established medical protocol.
  • Ensures the proper care and maintenance of work and recreational equipment used by inmates.
  • Supervises inmates in work details.
  • Writes inmate disciplinary reports.
  • Assures the center is in compliance with Virginia Minimum Standards.
  • Conducts regular security and sanitation inspections of the center.
  • Performs routine maintenance.
  • Issues cleaning supplies and monitors their use.
  • Acts as inmate hearings officer in disciplinary proceedings if necessary.
  • Any other duties assigned by higher authority.

    $47,721.00
