Hiring Range:
$21.64 - $25.06
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM Occasional Weekend Work
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for work related to the set-up, daily and long term maintenance of all district baseball, softball, soccer and football fields, inline rinks, outdoor basketball courts and tennis courts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under supervision of Athletic Maintenance Crew Leader, maintains athletic fields and courts. Assists in the upkeep of park district equipment and tools. Assists and leads in the training of full and part-time staff when required. Inspects and performs preventative maintenance and repairs. Operates trucks and special equipment as required after receiving and passing district training on vehicles/equipment. Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules. Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of baseball, softball, soccer and football field set up and maintenance along with turf maintenance, irrigation, and field lighting. Knowledge of, but not limited to, inline rink, basketball court and tennis court maintenance. Ability to work in a team-based environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Work independently under minimal supervision. Possess or able to obtain a valid Illinois Pesticide Operators License within twelve months of the date of hire. Perform other duties as assigned. Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions. Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by education or formal training equivalent to a High School Degree plus, two years experience in related positions. Education or formal training beyond high school in athletic field care preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
