Job Description

JOB The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 2 position for the Ketchikan Correctional Center (KCC) in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Watch Alaska DOC's video here: DOC Extended Cut.mp4 (vimeo.com)What you will be doing: Verify and certify the accuracy of prisoner time accounting, learn and assist with prisoner bookings.

Assist with the Electronic Monitoring (EM) program as needed. Process and assist with prisoner mail. Review and approve prisoner commissary. Maintain all facility training schedules and track yearly certifications.

The working environment you can expect: This position will, at times, work within the secure areas of the Correctional Center, other times you will work from a shared office area. This is a Monday - Friday position and does not require shift work.

Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and cost methods.

Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska;ORAny combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Equivalent to those typically gained by: Any combination of education and/or paraprofessional or professional experience or service in criminal justice, juvenile justice, probation, parole, public safety, law enforcement, corrections, court, legal services, law office, social services, social sciences, or public assistance programs or functions.
