Department:
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is located near the City's downtown business and historic districts. Huntsville has 3 Police Precincts, approximately 500 sworn officers, 200 civilian personnel and patrols an area around 220 square miles. HPD is a "Professional Law Enforcement Organization" utilizing modern technology, state of the art equipment and comprehensive training techniques. Glance:
This is technical work in processing crime scenes. Work involves ensuring the orderly collection, categorization, classification, safe transport, and storage of evidence gathered at a crime scene. Identifies, collects, examines, interprets, classifies, preserves, and presents evidence from crime scenes, such as biological evidence, latent fingerprints, tire prints, firearms, shoe sprints, tool marks and other physical evidence. Processes evidence in the field or workstation using special powders, chemical solutions, forensic light sources, and various cameras, lenses, and filters to develop and preserve evidence. Prepares detailed reports of scenes that have been processed and any involvement during the investigation. Photographs major crime scene and serious accidents. Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with major course work in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Crime Scene Management, or a related field. Valid driver's license Basic Crime Scene Investigator Certification within six (6) months of hire. FARO Operator Certification within eleven (11) months of hire. International Association of Identification (IAI) Certification is desired. Must submit to a fingerprinting background check if selected for hire. Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application if and polygraph examination if selected for hire.
