Job Description

The Women's Center of Jacksonville is a nonprofit Jacksonville-based organization with a mission of improving the lives of women through advocacy, support and education and providing rape recovery services for all genders. The Women's Center of Jacksonville is the only certified rape crisis center in Duval, Baker and Nassau Counties and also offers community education, counseling, referral assistance, rape prevention services and breast cancer education, support and advocacy at complimentary and affordable prices. JOB SUMMARY
The On-Call Victim Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, and accompaniment to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones. The On-Call Victim Advocate staffs the 24-hr rape crisis hotline and responds within the community for survivors and loved ones during the forensic exam process, initial report to law enforcement, detective interviews, and on-scene crisis intervention. For survivors who report the assault to law enforcement, the On-Call Victim Advocate will make every effort to simplify the process for them by informing them of their rights and options, accompanying them through the criminal justice process, and providing emotional support. For survivors who choose not to report to law enforcement, the On-Call Victim Advocate will provide any other needed information, referrals, advocacy and services. The On-Call Victim Advocate will collaborate with other community agencies to ensure that victims receive the most comprehensive services available and assist with implementing plans and goals for program development.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES
Provide on-call crisis intervention with adult and adolescent sexual assault. survivors and their loved ones. Provide advocacy, case coordination, emotional support and outreach services. Provide survivors information regarding their rights and options. Accompany survivors throughout criminal and administrative proceedings. Participate in 24/ 7 advocacy on-call rotation. Provide information and assistance, as needed, regarding Victim's Compensation. Assist with obtaining information regarding the status of criminal cases. Document all services provided to survivors. Work collaboratively with all community agencies involved in the client's recovery process. Assist with gathering necessary information for quarterly reports. Assist with administering client satisfaction surveys that are used to evaluate program. Participate in performing tasks necessary to achieve program goals, and complete tasks by assigned date. Attend and participate regularly in team meetings, supervision meetings, "all-staff" meetings, and retreats. Attend and participate in workshops, conference and other trainings as required for certification and Victim Service Practitioner Designation.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Position requires expertise in establishing an empowerment-based advocacy relationship within a crisis environment. Position also requires an independent, self-motivated individual with effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm, rational and manage multiple priorities in a crisis intervention environment. Individual must possess familiarity with the criminal justice system, government and nonprofit agencies as they relate to the issues of sexual assault. The position requires an individual who has knowledge of sexual violence issues and experience in crisis intervention and case coordination and who possesses compassion, integrity, creativity and trustworthiness. Additionally, the candidate would have the ability to work in a team approach, interact successfully with community members and communicate effectively with law enforcement and other community agencies. The position requires awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues of violence against women and children.
CREDENTIALS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
BA or BS in Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice or related field and/ or equivalent experience required. Two years' experience in direct service preferred. Experience in sexual assault or domestic violence programs a plus.

$20.00/hr
HOURS:
Sunday 7:00pm-7:00am AND Monday 7:00pm-7:00am
