Responsible technical work identifying, recovering, and preserving digital evidence related to investigations. The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2026. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $30.18

65 per hour. This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Union Contract represented by Council 5 of AFSCME. St. Louis County does not participate in E-Verify. All employees must be continuously authorized to work in the United States , for St. Louis County, on a full-time basis. St. Louis County does not provide sponsorship for employment visas. An employee in this class is responsible for identifying and extracting data from digital devices in support of investigations performed by law enforcement staff. Duties include identification, extraction and recovery of digital evidence from a variety of electronic devices and disseminating data to appropriate staff conducting criminal investigations in the Sheriff's Office. This position participates in an evidentiary chain of custody process and may testify in court as to the process' integrity. Data and digital evidence extracted from electronic devices is critical to criminal investigations and involves sensitive subject matter. This work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff. These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled.

RARE:
Lift 50
  • 100 lbs, climbing stairs, kneeling, stooping/bending, twisting (waist), work outside.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Pass/Fail): Associate's degree in computer science, cyber security, forensic analysis, law enforcement or other related degree AND one (1) year full-time, paid, verifiable experience in a position with responsibility for compiling, recovering and preserving digital evidence; OR four (4) years full-time, paid, verifiable experience in a licensed law enforcement role, with responsibility for compiling, recovering and preserving digital evidence. Possession of a valid driver's license.
RATING SYSTEM
