Job Description

General Description The purpose of this class is to coordinate the support services available to victims of crime and assist them through the court proceedings. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Assists with victim impact statements, crime victims' compensation, protective orders, and emotional support. Informs victims of their rights. Screens felony cases; provides the victim with the names of the assigned prosecutor and investigator, when needed; screens misdemeanor jail and juvenile cases. Provides information on and assists in completing the Crime Victim Compensation Application and Victim Impact Statement. Assists victims in obtaining magistrates' emergency protective orders, when needed. Monitors and informs the victims of relevant pre-trial and court events. Opens and processes returned felony Victim Impact Statements. Accompanies victims to the courtroom as requested. Refers victims to appropriate social services agencies. Assists victims in establishing restitution totals. Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Requires two years of office administration experience or closely related experience.Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
