RECORDS/PROPERTY & EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN
The City of Kennedale, Texas (pop. 10,233) Police Department is seeking an experienced Records/Property & Evidence Technician. Kennedale is located just southeast of Fort Worth. We are seeking a Records/Property & Evidence Technician to play a vital role in supporting law enforcement operations by managing police records, safeguarding evidence, and ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. In this position, you will maintain confidential records and evidence throughout the lifecycle of criminal investigations while providing exceptional service to department personnel, prosecutors, partner agencies, and the public.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage police records, including records retention, expungements, destruction, and public records requests in compliance with applicable laws and department policies.
- Maintain the department's property and evidence system by receiving, processing, securely storing, tracking, releasing, and coordinating the lawful disposition of evidence and property.
- Prepare and submit required state and federal reports, including monthly NIBRS reporting.
- Conduct required evidence inventories, inspections, and audits to ensure accountability and compliance.
- Coordinate with department personnel, prosecutors, courts, and partner agencies to support investigations, court proceedings, and records validation, including
TCIC/NCIC
entries.- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework is preferred.
- Minimum 1-year experience in law enforcement records, communications/dispatch, property and evidence, crime scene, or a related administrative field
- Proficiency with computer systems, including records management and inventory tracking software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to obtain CJIS certification
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a background investigation, including polygraph and psychological evaluation SALARY The starting hourly rate for this position is $25.
