Open Until Filled Employment Opportunity Under the general supervision of the Police Administration, this position performs research, analysis, presentation, development, and reporting on crime and operations information. Conducts the extraction, examination, and forensic preservation of electronic evidence from diverse digital platforms. Assists with criminal investigations by conducting technical data analysis to aid in suspect identification and situational reconstruction. Assists in the formal preparation of evidentiary materials for judicial proceedings. Collaborates with investigative staff and legal counsel, frequently delivering expert testimony within a courtroom setting. Qualifications Knowledge of statistical and research processes and procedures; knowledge of general department programs and administrative procedures; knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of criminology; knowledge of records management systems; knowledge of telephone etiquette. Skill in the operation of a variety of office equipment and systems including word processing, office machine usage and the operation of computers and various programs. Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF editing, and Google Suite. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to use independent judgment; ability to present research summations and convert findings to practical applications. Ability to type or word process at a speed necessary for successful job performance and to operate a variety of office equipment, systems, and databases. Ability to deal effectively with other police agencies, employees and the public. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Strong understanding of operating systems, file systems, network protocols, and data storage concepts. The ability to learn and become proficient with digital forensic software and hardware. Knowledge of encryption technologies and techniques for circumventing them (legally and ethically). Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a meticulous attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Unquestionable integrity and adherence to ethical guidelines in handling sensitive information and evidence. Ability to sit for extended periods, work with computers, and occasionally lift and transport equipment. Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.
