Job Description

This position is only open to current, full-time, regular (non-probationary) employees of the Louisville Metro Police Department. The purpose of this position is to review all incident and shell reports submitted by all LMPD employees and supplemental reports for compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements. Reviews, corrects, and checks for accuracy in reports to ensure it meets all reporting standards. Ensures all case statuses are valid and meets reporting requirements. Works with LMPD Major Crimes Division to ensure specialty spreadsheets are entered into the Police Records Management System for accurate reporting with the FBI and local agencies. Ensures all arrests made by LMPD and other agencies' reports are linked and compliant with reporting regulations. Validates and maintains data entered into the Police Records Management System for local, state, and federal reporting guidelines. Queries various computer systems for information related to approvals in the Police Records Management System. Corrects errors on reports submitted by sworn and civilian personnel. Tracks rejected reports to ensure completion and reanalyzes for compliance with reporting standards. Prepares and maintains various databases, logs, and tracks information that is incorrect, missing or waiting on response. Works with LMPD Major Crimes to ensure spreadsheets match the information entered in the Police Records System related to violent crimes. Answers sworn and civilian personnel reporting questions within designated timeframes and performs any required troubleshooting for issue resolution. Performs related work as assigned. Must be a current, regular, full-time employee of the Louisville Metro Police Department. High School Graduation or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of experience in NIBRS, Police Telephone Reporting Unit, or Police Records Management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Other Minimum Requirements:
Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them. An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations. Applicants who have bought, sold, or used marijuana within one year of application, or have bought, sold, or used any controlled substance or narcotic drug without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified. Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening. Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test. Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check. Must have or obtain certification for NIBRS within 90 days of employment.
Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
