Job Description

Grambling State University is seeking to hire a Full-time Police Investigator. Three years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Duties:
Investigates crimes by interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects. Examines crime scenes to obtain clues and gather evidence; processes and supervises crime scenes through the collection, preservation, documentation, and analysis of evidence. Prepares and files detailed investigative reports. Interacts with other law enforcement agencies and the district attorney's office to collect and distribute criminal intelligence information. Escorting prisoners to police station and having law violators booked on charges. Pursuing and apprehending fleeing suspects (climbing fences or walls, jumping ditches, running up to several blocks, etc.) Processes evidence, prepares court cases, and provides legal testimony. Supervises law enforcement personnel at crime scenes. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Compensation:
The Police Investigator position offers an entrance rate of $47,340.80 annually. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
