Job Description & Key Responsibilities As a Criminal Information Tech I, you will assist in criminal investigations through computerized research activities and maintain the integrity of vital records.
Daily tasks include:
Record Research:
Searching, retrieving, and researching public and private records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Data Management:
Entering data into computer systems, as well as retrieving, correcting, or deleting previously entered data.
Investigation Support:
Performing initial background and history research on individuals being investigated, and screening, composing, or controlling sensitive data.
Documentation:
Transcribing confidential interview tapes, preparing case reports, and drafting or closing correspondence for investigators.
Quality Control:
Ensuring that agency and state records are properly classified, processed, controlled, and accurately logged.
Qualifications Qualifications & Requirements Background Investigation:
Candidates must be willing to provide authorization and information necessary for a thorough Level II background investigation prior to employment due to daily access to confidential criminal history files.
BCI Certification:
Must pass the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) Proficiency test within the 12-month probationary period and maintain certification thereafter.
Working Conditions:
This is a sedentary position located in a typical, well-lit, and ventilated office setting. The role allows you to sit comfortably to perform the work, though occasional walking, standing, bending, driving, or carrying light items may be required. About the Role Location
