Position Description:

Successful applicants will assist the SD Division of Criminal Investigation Identification Section in processing criminal and civil background checks. Specifically, interns will assist in filing and processing criminal and civil fingerprints, create master fingerprint folders, scan existing paper records into the digital database, update and maintain computerized criminal history database, process non-criminal fingerprint background applications, and help maintain criminal records. Applicant should be detail oriented and familiar with data entry.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions. Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
