Irving A Robbins Middle School General Description:
The Monitor ensures the physical safety and behavioral regulation of students across campus. The Monitor role requires frequent physical movement, continuous patrolling and rapid response to emerging incidents or emergency situations. The monitor is responsible for supervising student behavior and engaging students in restorative learning in partnership with the school's administrators. The Monitor also supports initiatives related to positive school culture and climate.
Qualifications:
Candidate should hold a high school diploma or college level degree Candidate should demonstrate the ability to communicate with students while maintaining order with large student groups Candidate should possess the stamina and physical capability to stand, walk, climb stairs for extended periods of time Consideration will be given to the following References that indicate the candidate possesses the skills required for this position. Ability to control order with groups of students Ability to control order with visitors to the school building and follow all visitor sign in policies and procedures Ability to follow all safety and security policies and procedures Ability to present a respectful demeanor to school community members and visitors Ability to make sound judgment

SCHEDULE
5.5 hours/day (7:15am•1:15pm less 30 minute unpaid lunch) M-F school days
SALARY RANGE
$20.41•$24.63 per hour per FPSEU (25-26 rates)

Life Insurance, 4 paid Holidays, 5 Sick Days and 3 Personal Days Duties and Responsibilities Monitor student conduct mediating minor disputes and redirecting inappropriate behaviors Navigate the school campus frequently, including hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds and exterior perimeters to ensure a safe and secure school environment Prepare reports, as required Maintain all visitor policies and procedures Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate with staff, school community members and visitor Demonstrate respect for students, visitors and all members of the school community Make sound judgements and have good problem solving skills Other related duties, as assigned The Board of Education will not make employment decisions (including decisions related to hiring, assignment, compensation, promotion, demotion, disciplinary action and termination) on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, alienage, ancestry, disability (including pregnancy), genetic information, veteran status or gender identity or expression, except in the case of a bona fide occupational qualification.
