Job Description

This is a 5.5 hour a day position. Rock Creek Elementary is seeking a dependable, safety-minded individual to serve as a Playground Aide/Crossing Guard. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for students before school, during recesses, and after school dismissal. Responsibilities Supervise students during recess, lunch recess, arrival, and dismissal times Monitor playground activities to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior Assist students in resolving minor conflicts using positive and respectful communication Enforce school rules and safety procedures consistently and fairly Serve as a crossing guard before and after school to safely assist students and families crossing streets and parking lot areas Remain alert to potential safety concerns and respond quickly and appropriately Communicate concerns or incidents promptly to school administration Encourage positive student behavior and help create an inclusive school environment Assist with basic playground organization and equipment monitoring Support teachers and staff with classroom projects, preparation, and other school-wide tasks during non-recess times as part of a collaborative school team environment Qualifications Strong commitment to student safety and supervision Ability to remain calm, attentive, and proactive in busy situations Dependable, punctual, and professional Positive attitude and ability to work well with children, staff, and families Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required This is an "at will" position that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.
