The Crossing Guard's first concern is the safety of students under their supervision and reminding them of proper crossing techniques. Responsibilities Requests school children to wait at curbing for safe crossing; Halt traffic by hand signals or handheld stop sign giving due consideration to the distance required to stop and the avoidance of unnecessary traffic congestion. Escort children safely across the street. Signal for traffic to resume. Report persons seen loitering around schools for extended periods to the Police Department or school personnel. Report inappropriate behavior or situations to the Police Department or school personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, including the ability to communicate effectively with a broad number of audiences. Ability to manage job responsibilities and to meet the established district outcomes. Ability to use necessary district-identified computer hardware and software, and other district provided technology. Ability to physically adapt to the compressed time schedule of a school day and year.y to serve your community while developing valuable skills in traffic safety, environmental compliance, and public service. From $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 20.0 per week
