Troy, MI Job Details From $20 an hour 19 hours ago Qualifications Signage placement for traffic control Parent communication Entry level Law enforcement Full Job Description Crossing Guard Police Department Starting at $20.00/hour Opportunity to join a remarkable team and serve the community It is the mission of the City of Troy Police Department to enhance the quality of life in the community by protecting life and property and maintaining the peace through law enforcement service. The Police Department seeks to accomplish its mission by forming partnerships with residents, businesses, community groups, governmental agencies, and private organizations. The Department utilizes problem solving and creativity to enhance community livability and empowers its employees to exercise leadership to achieve the mission. DUTIES Monitor traffic flow to locate and identify gaps for elementary or middle school children to safely cross streets. Control vehicular traffic by using appropriate equipment and tools, such as signs. Stop traffic when necessary in order to maintain crossing area to be free of hazard. Observe and report safety violations of motorists and pedestrians. Communicate effectively and professionally with all students, parents, school personnel, City employees, and other stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a flexible schedule to work Monday through Friday, before and after school. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana). HOURS Part-time, year-round when schools are in session. Average hours equate up to 10 - 15 hours per week; Monday to Friday. Two (2) shifts generally last up to one (1) hour each: o Morning start time: 8:20 or 8:30am.
o Afternoon start time:
3:30 or 3:45pm.
