Job Summary The Recess Monitor is responsible for providing a safe, positive, and well-supervised playground environment for students during recess. This position promotes appropriate student behavior, encourages positive social interactions, and supports the school's commitment to student safety and well-being.
Job Responsibilities Supervise students during recess to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Encourage positive play, cooperation, and appropriate student behavior. Enforce school playground rules consistently, fairly, and respectfully. Assist students in resolving minor conflicts using appropriate conflict-resolution strategies. Notify school administration and/or designated staff of significant incidents, injuries, or ongoing behavioral concerns. Help students transition safely to and from recess in an orderly manner. Communicate effectively with teachers and other school staff regarding student concerns, behavioral observations, and incidents. Monitor playground equipment and report any safety hazards or maintenance concerns. Model respectful behavior and maintain professional interactions with students, staff, and families. Perform other related duties as assigned by school administration. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to effectively supervise groups of children in an outdoor setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm, observant, and responsive in a variety of situations.
