LOCATION

GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL, GEORGETOWN TEXAS POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal service. Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, and assists with the flow of meal service. Promote safety and well-being of students as they interact during their lunch period. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Food Service Nutrition Coordinator and seeks consultation and oversight from the Head of School.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Education equivalent to completion of high school or GED Knowledge of basic first aid and training in Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Able to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently Physically able to perform duties assigned at sufficient speed; work in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills Functional skills in reading and writing English Knowledgeable about meal pattern requirements; understands federal, state, and local program regulations. Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation procedures for food service. Mature ability to use judgment and be dependable. Skill in coping with a variety of students in varied situations.
Experience:
Prefer three month's experience, preferably with children in a fast-paced environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site). Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills. Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten assisting students who need assistance. Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria. Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time. Encourage good table manners. Participates in training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
Student Interaction:
Maintains appropriate student safety in cafeteria. Communicates with students and others in a positive and professional manner Encourage table manners. Maintains order in the cafeteria. Maintains cleanliness of tables and other areas of cafeteria.
Working Conditions:
Physically able to move around the cafeteria and perform duties at efficient speed. Physically able to assist children with opening their lunch items, if needed. Physically able to bend, squat, reach, grasp, and other physical positions. Physically able to stand for a long period of time.
