Non-Exempt Pay Grade:
Fixed Rate•$15.00/session, 2 sessions per day
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (Preferred) Must be dependable and responsible Possess the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with children Must be able to be at assigned location from 6:45 a.m.•9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.•4:30 p.m. (dependent upon the school zone times) and be available at other times related to early dismissal Must be able to successfully complete a crossing guard training course
Primary Purpose:
Under limited supervision, provide guidance, protection, and safety to all pedestrians within the designated school zone and crossing.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist all pedestrians in safely crossing main thoroughfares within a designated school zone. Direct the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic as appropriate within the designated school zone. Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with campus administrators and staff. Provide a general and consistent adult presence at school crossings. Notify campus administrators of unsafe practices by students. Inform the Katy ISD Police Department of unsafe operations of vehicles in the crossing areas.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Continuous walking and standing. Exposure to vehicle exhaust. Works outside and is exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
