Job Summary Join the City of South Jordan as a Crossing Guard! Are you looking for a meaningful way to serve your community and help keep children safe? The City of South Jordan is hiring Crossing Guards to assist students and pedestrians at designated school crossings while school is in session. In this important public-service role, you will help create a safe, welcoming environment for children traveling to and from school. Your attention, dependability, and sound judgment will support families, schools, and the broader South Jordan community each day.
What You'll Do:
Ensure safe crossing for children on their way to and from school Monitor traffic conditions and determine the best times for crossing Prepare the school crossing zone by placing warning cones in the street before crossing periods. Educate children about traffic-safety rules and encourage safe behavior near the roadway. Report crossing violations and safety concerns to supervisors Work outdoors in various weather conditions, ensuring safety at all times
Who You Are:
You are at least 18 years old and committed to protecting the safety of children and pedestrians. Reliable and punctual, with strong attention to detail You communicate clearly and respectfully with children, families, school employees, police personnel, and members of the public.
