General Description:
The School Support Aide is a grant-funded position that will be an integral member of the school-based team. The School Support Aide will be essential in promoting a restorative, safe, and supportive environment for students, staff, and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with school-based staff to assist with morning arrival, class transitions, and school dismissal Monitor and maintain sight supervision of a designated area within the school that is inclusive of hallways and bathrooms
Collaborates with school staff to escort students to designated locations within the school inclusive of bathrooms, main office, cafeteria, school health office, attendance, and counseling Collaborates with school staff to reinforce restorative approaches such as affective statements, community circles, and impromptu conferences when applicable A commitment to learning and understanding cultural differences A commitment to learning evidence-based restorative practices for adolescents
Maintains a calm and professional demeanor in an environment with shifting priorities
Attend monthly staff meetings and division-lead professional learning opportunities
Completes other duties as determined by the School-Based Manager
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required, Associates degree in a human services field or related field preferred
Experience working with school-aged youth, preferably in a school setting
Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students and school-based staff
Ability to follow and enforce school-based and division-level practices and procedures as they relate to student conduct, well-being, and learning
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Works independently and efficiently, including the ability to research and gather information from varied sources. Possess strong organization, problems solving, and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and colleagues Bilingual candidates are highly preferred
