Immediately Job Description Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity for a Part-Time, 12-month School Safety Staff member to provide support to the district's instructional mission with specific responsibility for the physical and emotional safety of students and staff while engaged in learning and/or involved in school events. This position also supports and maintains the various systems involved in the safe operations of the district. Primary job duties include but are not limited to the following: Monitor student, staff, and visitor activity and building usage on school grounds. Respond to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, alarms, etc.), taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns. Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus safety issues, and provide information, direction, and/or referral for addressing the inquiry. Use effective de-escalation strategies when addressing inappropriate conduct or behavior. Monitor weather conditions, and notify appropriate personnel of the need for snow and ice removal, and other safety hazards. Assist in responding to and investigating complaints/calls related to possible criminal activity, medical emergencies, and/or violations of district safety protocols.
