Job Description
THE POSITION
This is an outstanding opportunity to assist the Community Development Resource Agency Director in managing and directing the overall operations of the Building Services Division, oversee and coordinating internal management of the division, and manage a major program of the Agency. This position also provides highly complex staff assistance to the CDRA Director, which may include plan review, code compliance and enforcement, and building inspection. Additionally, this position works to ensure that all division activities and services meet applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate a flexible and collaborative management style, be a strategic thinker, and will work as a key member of the Placer County leadership/management team. The ideal candidate will also be a confident, knowledgeable, and experienced professional with a reputation for upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, collaboration, and quality. Public speaking skills and the ability to conduct effective public outreach are also important to this position. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with various regional partners, state and federal agencies, local jurisdictions, environmental organizations, local business associations, the development community, and local stakeholders. In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will have experience working with technical and professional staff, contractors, and consultants and should have a foundational understanding of the principles of plan review, building inspection, code compliance and enforcement, organizational analysis, administrative management, supervision and leadership.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates need to possess the following background/qualifications:EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in building inspection, including four (4) years of administrative and management responsibility.TRAINING
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in construction technology, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field. Other occupational experiences with training related to the position of Chief Building Official may be accepted. Additional training in management is highly desirable.REQUIRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
