Job Description Full-time opportunity for an Avionics Systems Traffic Surveillance Architect and Industry Focal. This role is focused on the development, certification, and industry leadership of advanced airborne traffic surveillance systems, including ADS-B, TCAS, ACAS, Detect and Avoid (DAA), and Mode S technologies. The position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of aviation innovation, shaping next-generation surveillance architectures while influencing global industry standards and regulatory requirements. This is a highly visible technical leadership role for an experienced systems engineer with deep expertise in avionics surveillance systems and certification. You will serve as both a technical authority and industry representative, working directly with regulatory agencies, standards committees, and engineering teams to drive the development of cutting-edge surveillance technologies. Ideal candidates will have a passion for aviation safety, systems architecture, and influencing the future direction of global airspace modernization initiatives. Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience in avionics systems engineering and traffic surveillance technologies Deep expertise with ADS-B, TCAS, ACAS, Mode S, and related surveillance systems Strong understanding of MOPS development, interpretation, certification, and compliance activities Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama Experience developing system architectures using MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or Enterprise Architect Strong understanding of
ARINC 429, ARINC
664, CAN, and related avionics communication protocols Experience leading integration, verification, and validation activities for complex avionics systems Knowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and aviation certification processes Experience supporting FAA, EASA, ICAO, TSO, TC, and STC certification programs Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and regulatory audiences Desired Skills & Experience Experience authoring or contributing to MOPS documents and industry standards Participation in RTCA Special Committees, particularly SC-186 and SC-209 Experience with EUROCAE working groups and international standards organizations Established relationships with FAA, EASA, RTCA, EUROCAE, or ICAO stakeholders Experience with system safety assessments including FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Experience integrating AI/ML, sensor fusion, or advanced sensing technologies into aerospace systems Prior technical leadership experience influencing industry-wide standards and certification approaches What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown 35% Systems Architecture & Requirements Engineering 25% Certification, Compliance & Regulatory Engagement 20% Integration, Verification & Validation 20% Industry Standards, Innovation & Technology Strategy Daily Responsibilities 50% Hands On Technical Leadership 20% Industry & Regulatory Engagement 30% Team Collaboration Lead the development, integration, and certification of advanced traffic surveillance systems Develop, interpret, and apply MOPS requirements across surveillance products and programs Define and manage system-level requirements and architecture throughout the product lifecycle Guide verification, validation, and certification activities to ensure compliance with aviation standards Collaborate with engineering teams across software, hardware, and systems disciplines Engage directly with FAA, EASA, ICAO, RTCA, and EUROCAE stakeholders on certification and standards development Represent the organization within industry forums, committees, and working groups Conduct safety assessments and support certification documentation activities Influence future surveillance technologies, operational concepts, and regulatory frameworks Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies including AI/ML, advanced sensors, and data fusion capabilities into surveillance architectures The Offer Competitive salary plus bonus opportunity You will receive the following benefits: Medical Insurance Dental Benefits Vision Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) Bonus Opportunity Professional Development & Industry Conference Participation Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the applicable region on a full-time basis now and in the future.
