Job Description
This position is responsible for participating in the environmental compliance activities of the Stormwater Management Department. Performs wet and dry weather sampling throughout the city; forwards samples to testing laboratory. Evaluates laboratory tests and uploads results to computer database. Performs inspections to enforce the Stormwater Management ordinance. Researches pollutant origins. Responds to toxic spill incidents. Inspects industrial sites and commercial businesses for environmental compliance and pollution prevention purposes. Responds to and investigates citizen complaints regarding illicit discharge to the stormwater system. Participates in the Municipal Stormwater Inspection Program to inspect all city-owned sites. Inspects MS4 structures such as outfalls, detention ponds, and tide gates. Maintains various inventories that enable stormwater inspections (i.e., outfalls, industrial sites, commercial businesses). Assists in Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) and Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) efforts by conducting water sampling and assisting in source tracing activities.
