Location Michigan (Full-time, Hybrid flexibility) Role Summary As an Air Quality Principal , you will serve as a senior leader driving technical excellence, client relationships, and business growth within the air quality practice. You will lead complex permitting and compliance projects, provide strategic regulatory guidance, and play a key role in expanding service offerings and market presence. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership, offering the opportunity to shape impactful projects across energy, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. Responsibilities Lead air quality permitting, compliance, and modeling projects from inception to completion. Oversee preparation of regulatory deliverables including NSR, PSD, and Title V permit applications. Provide expert interpretation of federal, state, and local air quality regulations. Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted technical advisor. Drive business development efforts, including identifying opportunities and supporting proposal development. Mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams, supporting staff development and project delivery excellence. Conduct technical reviews, ensuring quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with regulatory agencies to secure timely approvals and navigate complex requirements. Support strategic planning and growth of the air quality service line. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 15+ years of experience in air quality consulting, permitting, and compliance. Strong knowledge of EPA regulations and state-level air quality programs. Proven ability to lead projects, manage teams, and deliver high-quality client outcomes. Experience with air dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF) and emissions calculations. Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining client relationships. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced technical certifications. Established network within industrial, energy, or manufacturing sectors. Experience supporting litigation, regulatory testimony, or agency negotiations.
