Office Lansing Practice Area Energy & Environmental Date Posted Jul 23, 2026 Application Deadline Dec 11, 2026 We are seeking a talented and motivated attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join our growing Energy and Environmental practice team in Lansing or Grand Rapids. The ideal candidate will have experience in public utility regulatory actions or environmental enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance. While law firm experience is preferred, we will also consider candidates with relevant experience from federal or midwestern state agencies. Knowledge or interest in energy, utilities, and/or air quality regulations would be a plus. A background in economics, engineering, geology, or other scientific fields is welcomed but not required.
Qualifications:
Education:
JD from an accredited law school.
Experience:
3-6 years of experience in environmental law, preferably in a law firm setting. Candidates with government experience at the federal or state level are also encouraged to apply.
Environmental Focus:
Knowledge of and experience with environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and other federal and state environmental laws Other qualifications preferred but not required include:
Environmental Litigation:
Experience with environmental litigation (CERCLA cost recovery, toxic tort, etc.)
Energy & Air Expertise:
Experience or interest in energy rate work and air quality regulations.
Scientific Background:
A background in engineering, geology, or a related scientific field.
Environmental Transactions:
Experience environmental transactions (e.g., real estate, M&A, site remediation)
