The IT Professional I, operating under general supervision, provides front‑line and intermediate technical support within a large, distributed, statewide Texas A&M AgriLife environment as part of AgriLife Information Technology (AIT). The position supports faculty, staff, and operational systems across multiple research centers and county offices, with primary responsibility for the North Texas region and secondary support statewide. Based at the High Plains Research & Extension Center, the role delivers IT services through a combination of onsite and remote support, including travel as required to meet service needs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, application, and system issues, as well as supporting specialized services and applications unique to AgriLife operations, while working independently within established procedures, standards, and escalation paths and coordinating with other AIT staff to ensure continuity of services across a multi‑office, multi‑user environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage and facilitate appropriate response to resolve requests for technical assistance. Documents service requests and steps to resolutions using approved ticketing system. Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent support requests. Contributes to and maintains technical documentation and procedures. Confers with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters. Research problems and recommends solutions. Provides resource estimates and progress reports. Ensures that work is accurate and in compliance with unit or project quality standards. Collaborative support of network infrastructure. Participates in training and professional development sessions. Ensures security of customer data and applications in all phases of production. Ensures compliance with applicable policies, rules, and procedures. Provides assistance in resolving hardware and software problems with vendor technical support. Installs, upgrades, maintains and configures workstations and software. May perform technical activities and provide progress reports as part of a project team. Provide technical support for multiple offices remotely or via onsite visits that may involve travel. Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Office 365 applications. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Adaptable to fast pace ever changing technical environment. Ability to operate with limited onsite supervision. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Preferred Education and Experience:
One years of IT experience. Experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows operating systems. Experience supporting and troubleshooting Mac OS. Basic knowledge of networks and associated terminology.Applicant Instructions:
