An Environmental Compliance Specialist performs environmental audits and advises companies on compliance with state, local and federal environmental regulations. Investigates company waste disposal, industrial hygiene and pesticide use practices and policies, advises on compliance issues and reports violations as needed.
Provide environmental compliance support for wastes regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle C and Subtitle D, including hazardous waste; petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL); universal waste; municipal solid waste; construction and demolition waste; and inert waste in support of Environmental Services at Fort Jackson, SC.
Essential Functions:
Conduct and document inspections on regulated waste Collect, package, label, store, and track regulated waste Enter details of each container into the logbook upon receipt. Separate hazardous waste, POL, and universal waste from non-hazardous waste to minimize disposal costs and meet regulatory compliance requirements Enter details of each container into the logbook upon receipt. Conduct regulated waste inspections, investigate reports of non-compliance, and other compliance related issues, and respond to hazardous substance spills. Other duties as assigned Qualifications (Education and Experience): When possible, the employee will have an advanced degree in the field of science. Such degree can be vocational, two or four year degree from a higher learning program. If the employee does not have an advanced degree the equivalent of experience and specialized training (i.e. on-the-job training, apprenticeships, or professional certifications) is comparable to prolonged courses of specialized intellectual instruction. The position requires independent judgement of an intellectual nature obtained by 3 years of experience in an environmental related position.

Whitetail Environmental maintains the government work schedule. This is a full-time position with a work schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
