Join us at Centrus Energy as we expand and strengthen our Environmental and Waste Management capabilities at the Oak Ridge Technology & Manufacturing Center (TMC) . In this high‑visibility role, you'll be the guiding force behind critical environmental programs that safeguard our people, our community, and our future. This is an opportunity to step into a dynamic environment where your expertise shapes strategy, influences decision‑making, and supports cutting‑edge nuclear and manufacturing operations. What You'll Do In this role, you will lead all environmental and waste management activities for the Oak Ridge TMC, serving as the site's primary expert on regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. You'll work directly with agencies such as TDEC, EPA, DOT, and occasionally DOE, ensuring our operations meet federal and state environmental requirements. You will guide permitting efforts, oversee hazardous and radiological waste programs, and provide clear regulatory direction to engineering and operations teams. You'll also help shape strategy by contributing to budgets, staffing plans, and project proposals, while maintaining strong relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders. With authority to enhance or develop new programs and procedures, you'll play a key role in protecting our workforce, environment, and community while supporting the mission of the Oak Ridge Technology & Manufacturing Center. You will own programmatic oversight of environmental compliance, permitting, monitoring, and waste management. Your leadership ensures we meet—and exceed—regulatory expectations, protect our workforce, and maintain excellence across mission‑critical operations.
You will:
- Lead direct and indirect team members to meet corporate goals and milestones
- Plan, prioritize, and delegate work to meet project and compliance objectives
- Influence key decisions and shape environmental strategy at a critical time in our growth We'd Love to Hear From Candidates With
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, physical sciences, or equivalent technical experience (typically 8 years)
- 8+ years working in environmental and/or waste programs, including 4+ years in the nuclear industry
- Experience building and managing environmental or waste management programs (procedures, training, compliance systems) A Successful Candidate Also Brings
- Professional certifications such as
SDC, CSP, ASP, REM
, or similar- Experience managing radiological and hazardous waste
