The Agency Learning and Development Specialist supports training and capacity-building efforts for the San Antonio Food Bank's network of partner agencies. As a member of the Agency Relations team, this position helps develop, coordinate, and evaluate training initiatives that promote agency growth, compliance, and effectiveness across our 29-county service area. The ideal candidate is passionate about community service and eager to help organizations become stronger and more impactful in serving their communities. They should have strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and an interest in delivering meaningful learning opportunities that align with the mission of the San Antonio Food Bank. This role will assist in identifying training needs, supporting program development, and ensuring agency partners understand and follow the policies and guidelines of the San Antonio Food Bank, Feeding America, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and other regulatory entities.
Essential Functions:
Work closely with all members of the agency relations team to execute an effective training management plan to help build upon the accuracy, compliance and capacity of the agency network. Conduct both internal and external training regarding tools and resources tied to the agency network to include but not limited to-online ordering systems, neighbor intake systems, federal, local, and network required training (i.e. Civil Rights, Food Safety, Service Insights on Meal Connect (SIMC) etc.). Work closely with newly onboarded agencies to equip them with the most useful tools and resources to ensure success and impactful service to neighbors. Perform and conduct trainings on federal programs such as The Emergency Food Assistance Program that serve as the primary agency network guidance. Support the development of new training that contributes towards the organization's strategic plan. Support the drafting and managing of the agency relations team's standard operating procedures tied to federal, local, and network guidelines. Build and maintain expertise in Service Insights on Meal Connect (SIMC), the Food Bank's neighbor intake and services platform; train partner agencies, provide technical assistance, resolve user challenges, and support effective utilization across the network. Serve as the primary point of contact for partner agencies using the Learning Management System (LMS), providing technical assistance, monitoring training completion, and promoting active participation. Track and maintain the upkeep of records associated with agency training and reporting to ensure all deadlines are met and up to date. Conduct refresher training when applicable for both internal and external participants. Facilitate streamlined communication methods to the agency network. Complete reports associated with training and development metrics as required by the Director of Network Development. Periodically audit, review and update agency files to ensure training requirements are consistently met. Work closely with the Agency Compliance and Quality Assurance Specialist regarding grievances tied to the agency network where training opportunities are needed. Strengthen customer service by supporting and optimizing established and new communication channels. Support and execute retention initiatives to grow agencies, build capacity, and reinforce best practices. Assist in events related to programmatic work efforts and other departments when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred; Relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree. Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in the non-profit sector, public affairs, program management or other relevant experience. Bilingual- English & Spanish preferred. Will require travel periodically. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability for effective public speaking. Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and basic database use. Good judgment and discretion. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel. Ability to organize work, time, and self. Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines. Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions. Ability to represent the Food Bank in a courteous professional manner. Valid Driver's License, current insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
