WILDLAND FIRE CAPTAIN DRIVER OPERATOR

(CDO)•Duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing all operations on a Type 6 or Type 7 engine while providing a safe working environment for our customers. The CDO is responsible for documenting the day's activities and ensuring timecards are accurately completed at the end of the day. Daily communicating operational objectives to the Battalion Chiefs.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Wildland Fire Captain Driver Operator (CDO)•Are Contracted Fire Resources. Essential duties are to provide Public Utility Companies with a safe environment in which to work. This is accomplished by delivering Fire watch and extinguishment, EMS, fire weather updates, safety briefings along with other duties as needed Travel is required for this position. Develop, direct and participate in drills and training programs. Provide information to the customer and participate in customer relations events. Understand the Chain of Command. A typical shift is from 6:00am to 4:00pm but 12+ hour shifts are common. Red Flag Warning periods may require you to work up to a 72-hour shift. Wildland CDO is the driver operator. This is typically a Type 6 engine. A Wildland CDO may act in the capacity of Battalion Chief as needed. Able to work any shift assigned, including nights, holidays and weekends. Supervise the safe operation of company vehicles and company equipment. Conduct performance evaluations of assigned crew members as required. Using iPads with associated applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED Current CPR/AED certification Valid driver license with good driving record Able to work any assigned shift, including nights, holidays and weekends. Insurance division members may be assigned to locations in the western United States for 14•21 days. Ability to pass a work capacity test conducted during the initial onboarding process Proficient in the use of a computer, Ipad, etc., including systems such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other platforms for routine business use. Knowledgeable in current wildland firefighting practices and procedures, particularly in the wildland urban interface (WUI) environment.
