Job Description

Position Title:
Fire Systems Coordinator Pay Rate :
Starting at $33.78/ hour
Category/Shift :
Hourly Day Shift (Monday-Friday) Work Schedule - Coordinators will work 5 days per week 8 hours/day. Overtime must be approved on an as-needed basis by the Department Manager. Regular work day will be from 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Work schedule may vary to meet business needs. Call outs will be made as necessary.

The Job You Will Perform:
Fire Pump Oversight — Perform daily inspections of all four fire pumps to verify operational readiness and identify any conditions that may impair performance. Regulatory Compliance — Ensure full compliance with sprinkler system requirements, including scheduled inspections, head replacements, 5‑year flushes, loop testing, hose pressure testing, obstruction investigations, and dry‑system draining. Maintenance Coordination — Coordinate fire protection system repairs with Infinity Fire Systems, Shreveport Diesel, and other approved vendors. Emergency Response Support — Assist the IP Health & Safety Team and the Emergency Response Team (ERAT) during incidents and emergency operations. Weekly Pump Testing — Conduct weekly operational tests on diesel fire pumps and document performance results . System Riser Inspections — Perform routine rounds and condition assessments on all fire system risers. Permit Compliance — Review, audit, and maintain documentation for fire water use permits. System Documentation — Complete inspections and maintain records for sprinkler risers, PIVs, hydrants, halon/special hazard systems, and portable fire extinguishers. Outage Leadership — Serve as the fire systems lead during annual outages, coordinating all fire‑related work activities. Freeze Protection Management — Implement and monitor freeze‑protection measures for all fire protection systems. Contractor Liaison — Act as the primary point of contact for fire system contractors, including scheduling, oversight, and collection of inspection and repair reports. EHS Audit Support — Provide support to EHS Coordinators during safety audits and compliance reviews. Any other duties and responsibilities as requested by the department leadership.
The Skills You Will Bring:
Must have good knowledge of Fire Prevention/Risk Assessment requirements of International Paper Self-motivated with the ability to accomplish work. Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to stay organized. File and produce reports as needed. Able to operate computers and perform the following: SAP Generate Requisitions & Work Notifications Manage PMs Manage Repairs Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Forms, etc.)
